One Step Closer - You Choose

Last week we focused on the encounters we have with God in our daily lives. Now, we are challenging you to acknowledge those encounters. You may not see the difference in these concepts, but let me explain with a story -

Imagine getting a gift, perhaps think of a gift you received when you were younger that you were just a bit too old for or that was just not something you were that interested in. Say that gift came from your grandparents or another older relative. Due to your love of the relative, you didn’t want to hurt their feelings so you hung on to the gift, but you put it into the back of your closet. And it stayed there, maybe coming out to take up a spot on your shelf when that relative came to visit. Most of the time though, it was buried in the far, dark corner of the closet unused and unloved.

God is always present. God is always trying to reach you through those encounters we highlighted last week. You have the choice of whether to acknowledge God’s presence in your life. You choose whether you respond to God. you choose whether God’s presence is something you acknowledge only when you’re in church or whether you acknowledge God’s presence elsewhere in your daily life. You choose whether you will put God’s presence into the far dark corner or whether you will integrate the gift of God’s presence into your daily life. You choose.

  • Take a minute to reflect on last week.
  • Take a minute to acknowledge the times you encountered God.
  • Take a minute to acknowledge the times you encountered God, but ignored his presence.
  • Take a minute to offer a prayer so that you may be more receptive to God’s presence in your life.
  • Take a minute at the end of the day to acknowledge where you encountered God today.
