Acceptance

The Samaritan Woman at the Well (John 4:4-26) offers us many insights into God's love for us, no matter who were are and no matter what we have done. Accepting this is something we often struggle with. But we can clearly see that Jesus reaches out to this Samaritan woman who is an outcast in her own society. He values her even though she dismisses her own value.

Acknowledgement of God's love means we accept it unconditionally. It is not that we feel His love when we think we "earned" it. Bishop Barron shares four key lessons from this story that reveal how we can gain strength from an unending source of love: "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:13-14)
